| Flokkur I |
| Easy moving water with a few riffles and small waves. |
| Flokkur II |
| Easy to Medium rapids with moderate waves, some obvious obstacles to
maneuver around, some large rocks, wide channels. |
| Flokkur III |
| Medium to Moderately Difficult rapids with high irregular waves, narrow
channels, rocks and holes, some maneuvering required. 1 meter high waves,
some small hydraulics, some rocks and eddies. |
| Flokkur IV |
| Difficult to very Difficult; long turbulent rapids with powerful waves
and holes, many obstacles requiring precise maneuvering in turbulent water.
Strong waves, up to 1,8 meters high, boiling eddies, dangerous rocks and
hydraulics. |
| Flokkur V |
| Extremely Difficult; long violent rapids that must be scouted from
shore, dangerous drops, unstable eddys, strong, irregular currents and
hydraulics. |
| Flokkur VI |
| Unrunnable - unless conditions are perfect, and then only by
experts. |
